Export settings for YouTube, Reels, and TikTok

An overlay only sits straight over your video when its resolution, frame rate, and aspect ratio match the footage. Here are the settings for the platforms you are posting to.

The overlay you export from Overspeed has to match the video it sits on. Get the resolution, frame rate, and aspect ratio right and the gauges line up perfectly. Here is what to pick per platform.

Match your footage first

Before anything else, set the overlay to the same resolution and frame rate as your edit. A 4K 60 fps onboard wants a 4K 60 fps overlay. If the two differ, the gauges drift out of sync or scale wrong.

YouTube (16:9)

Use widescreen 16:9 at 1080p or 4K, and 30 or 60 fps to match your footage. Sixty fps is worth it for fast onboard where the speed readout changes quickly.

Reels and TikTok (9:16)

Export vertical 9:16 at 1080 by 1920. Build the overlay against your reframed vertical clip so gauges sit inside the safe area, clear of the platform UI at the bottom.

Instagram feed (1:1 or 4:5)

Square 1:1 still works well for feed posts, and 4:5 gives a little more height. Pick the one your footage is framed for and keep the gauges away from the edges.

Codec and background

  • Export H.264 MP4 for the widest editor support, or VP9 WebM if you need it.
  • Render on a chroma-key background and key it out in your editor.
  • Up to 4K at 24, 30, or 60 fps, in widescreen, vertical, or square.

Make your footage look broadcast-grade

Pick a template or build your own look, drop in your data, and export an overlay ready for your next edit.
